X-ray simulator Xpert CBS Go back
Detecting threats and prohibited items like an expert:
OTS Xpert CBS – advanced training for cabin baggage screeners
How does the X-ray of a lithium battery look like?
How to detect a lighter in a stack of pens – and are pocket knives forbidden on board?
Are passenger allowed to take a can of hair spray in their hand luggage?
Which items are allowed in cabin baggage – and which are prohibited?
After successfully completing initial training, screeners are familiar with both theoretical background and practical duties and are able to recognize dangerous situations quickly and correctly – now they have to preserve and further consolidate their abilities. Hence, OTS Xpert CBS allows experienced screeners to discover specific prohibited items. This recurrent training module on X-ray image interpretation is designed specifically for personnel who controlled carry-on luggage in accordance with aviation security regulations. Tailored to the steadily increasing requirements in civil aviation, the simulator combines different categories and learning procedures to familiarize trainees with both daily and threat items, thus improving detection performance.
This recurrent training module has been developed to meet increasing demands in the area of screening cabin baggage. In accordance with EU regulation 2015/1998, the OTS Xpert CBS simulator is officially recognized by the German Federal Police (BPol).
Together with the OTS Xpert HBS simulator and the brand new OTS Management it was released by the German Federal Police for regular advanced training for aviation security assistants in January 2018.
Regular and genuine training improves screeners’ ability to correctly assess threats – quick and reliable detection of dangerous objects is enormously important in highly-sensitive areas such as aviation. Only frequent training allows security personnel to contribute to increasing global security.
To guarantee an effective training, OTS Xpert is both challenging and promoting learning progress. Only after achieving a defined pass rate and successfully completing one sublevel, the student ‘levels up’. Progress methodology is underlining OTS recurrent training, meaning that training progress hinges on individual performance: X-ray images are presented corresponding with a student’s level of knowledge – the more one levels up, the more difficult image material becomes. STI hereby enables a steady performance improvement which allows screening experts to maintain and elaborate their knowledge.
OTS Xpert CBS perfectly complements the other products of the OTS family which enable employee training in basic and advanced courses. As with all of STI’s other OTS computer-based training courses, all images are recorded in .hif file format of the manufacturer Smiths Detection – lossless, high-quality original image files provide optimal conditions for learning and practicing. Of course all relevant image enhancement features of the X-ray machine are provided: Students can view the bag using image enhancement features such as ‘NEG‘, ‘SEN‘ or ‘OS‘. The simulated keyboard, an accurate copy from Smiths Detection X-ray machines, facilitates authentic, practical training.
OTS Xpert CBS hence enables experienced screeners to identify everyday objects in cabin baggage, detect threat items, and distinguish between permitted and prohibited items.
Our software solutions are offered in packages which not only include theoretical and practical teaching, but also extensive evaluation, and are rounded off by online and offline support, as well as updates.
